PROGRAMS
NED SHRED MTB
This project is designed to eliminate the financial burden of experiencing our incredible natural environment. Mountain Biking is a great way to get out and be active, experience nature and cope with the daily stress of life. But, it comes with a high financial burden that many families cannot overcome as well as the perceived experience necessary to access the trails. We are going to provide the opportunity to experience mountain biking to Nederland youth that would not normally get to, free of charge. We are also going to provide the appropriate level of instruction that eliminates the learning gap with beginning to mountain bike. We are partnering with multiple organizations, including the Nederland Elementary School and PTA, The Town of Nederland, and Singletrack Mountain Bike Adventures (SMBA) to assemble a youth bike fleet and in-school mountain bike days. Each grade will have the opportunity to receive professional instruction on local trails and access to the fleet of bikes for free during the program. This fleet of bikes will also be used during PE class, SMBA after-school and summer programs and at other cycling events during the year.
We need funding for this program to purchase, maintain and store the fleet of bikes, helmets, spare parts, and tools. One hundred percent of the funding received through this program will be used to purchase and manage the fleet of bikes and equipment.
One hundred percent of funds will go directly towards the purchase, maintenance and secure storage of the fleet of bikes and equipment. We are partnering with our local bike shop to purchase bikes at wholesale prices and to build/maintain the bikes. We are partnering with the Town of Nederland to provide secure storage space. The numerous professional mechanics and cyclists in and around town will volunteer time to help build the bikes.
